Perth’s newest riverside venue, Bar Olé Applecross, has officially opened its doors – and its first week of trade has already cemented it as one of the city’s most exciting new dining destinations.
Located beneath the Riviere Residences on Canning Beach Road, Bar Olé offers uninterrupted views across the Swan River and Perth city skyline, with an expansive alfresco area quickly becoming a go-to spot for sunset drinks and long, leisurely lunches.
The opening weekend saw plenty of visitation from both Applecross locals and visitors, with the venue buzzing from day one on Saturday. Guests have embraced the vibrant atmosphere, warm hospitality and share-style Spanish dining experience, with glowing feedback from nearby residents and the wider community.
Serving up a menu of Spanish inspired tapas, Bar Olé Applecross brings bold flavours and relaxed dining to Applecross. Signature dishes include traditional paella, chorizo, patatas bravas, croquetas and fresh local seafood, alongside premium selections such as the renowned El Capricho anchovy. Designed to be shared, the menu encourages a social, communal dining experience.
At the helm of the kitchen is Head Chef Mattia Gattini, originally from Ancona, Italy, who brings a wealth of European experience to the role. Having spent several years workingin Spain, Mattia delivers an authentic approach to flavour, complemented by his recent experience in Perth’s dining scene and within the ELG Australia group.
The 240 capacity venue features Spanish inspired interiors, a striking seven metre bar topped with locally sourced Marri wood and an open kitchen where guests can watch chefs at work – adding both theatre and depth of flavour to the dining experience.
Behind the bar, guests can enjoy Estrella on tap, a curated selection of Spanish and local WA wines and Bar Olé’s signature house-made sangria, available in both red and white and already proving a crowd favourite.
Bar Olé Applecross marks the sixth venue for ELG Australia, owned by Ryan and Nikki Esqulant.
“We are thrilled to finally open south of the river with our first of two venues in Applecross,” said Ryan Esqulant. “The opening week exceeded expectations, with incredible support from the local community. It’s been fantastic to see people embracing the space, the food, and the atmosphere so quickly.”
The sister venue and 7th venue for ELG Australia, The Heart Applecross, is set to open next door mid-May 2026, further expanding the group’s presence in the area.
Bar Olé Applecross is now open daily from 11:30am until late.
